Artist - Andrea Fisher belongs to the Birri Gubba, Goreng Goreng, Wakka Wakka and Jagalingou people of Qld.

The Goanna is a traditional animal connected to Country. Andrea employs parts of the designs passed down to her by her Nan, of her uncle's drawings, that relate back to home and story. The markings throughout the painting signify connection to belongings also passed down, the boomerang and clapsticks, which represent Ceremony, Caring for Country, and Dancing.

About the Artist

Andrea Fisher was born in Meanjin - Brisbane and now resides in Tulmur - Ipswich. Andreas is primarily a painter, though also works in jewellery, printing, installation, public artwork, and conceptual practices. Highlights in her career have been travelling to Cherbourgh to facilitate art workshops to young artists, also she won the Seasons of Country Art Award in 2024. Andrea has also travelled overseas with her practice to New York.
